It was a rainy day. There was no one on the street even though it was 3 in the afternoon.

When the water stopped a bit, I took my puppy for a walk because the confinement of the pandemic had made me tired that day.

After a moment of walking, I began to hear steps behind me. I felt someone's presence. I sped up. So did the steps.

We have been taught what that sounds means from a young age, but we never thought this could happen to us.

I started searching in my pockets for anything I could use, but I only had my keys. It always happens at times when we are least cautious.

By that moment, the steps were right behind me.

I turned back; there was a man who smiled at me when he saw my face. But nothing more. A wave of panic washed over my chest.

Should I run? or fight?

He had done absolutely nothing yet, but he kept walking at a very close distance from me.

I tried to give him space so he could pass, but he refused and said that he was enjoying the walk.
